摘要:The greatest fraction of the natural radiation exposure in humans results from inhalation of the short-lived decay products of radon ( 222Rn) and thoron ( 220Rn), which occur in the free atmosphere and in higher concentrations in the room air of buildings. In the room air of some buildings high radon concentrations can occur which lie near the values measured in mine air. Therefore, one has to assume that the general population has a significant cancer risk, especially lung cancer, from such exposure. To estimate the radiation dose, one must know the amount and deposition place in the lung of the inhaled radon and thoron daughters. For these dose calculations, three parameters of air activity are important: (1) concentration of the decay products; (2) concentration of the unattached fraction of the decay products; and (3) activity size distributions of the radioactive aerosols
