摘要:This chapter first introduces the key components of a twin‐screw granulation module and the basics of its application as a high‐shear wet granulation tool. The continuous twin‐screw granulation system is operated as part of a continuous manufacturing line. In the chapter, the specific example of the ConsiGma manufacturing line by GEA Pharma Systems has been used as example to describe the twin‐screw granulation operation. The twin‐screw granulation module consists of a powder feeder, a granulation liquid addition system and a twin‐screw granulator (TSG). Various aspects of wet‐granulation in a TSG, such as granulation time, mixing and particle size evolution, are discussed along with the benefits in terms of knowledge growth by combination of experimental and mathematical methods. The modelling approaches presented in the chapter outlined the success of models in presenting a more realistic and in depth description of the twin‐screw granulation process.
